Notice regarding scam WhatsApp messages targeting Pale Blue Dot® Recruitment 8th April 2024

We have become aware of messages via WhatsApp purporting to be from Pale Blue Dot® Recruitment and that this may be linked to a scam that targets potential job seekers. The people operating this scam are contacting Random People with a job offer in order to get your personal or financial information, or request some form of payment.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that :

(i) we are Irish owned and based – so anyone who contacts you from the UK, Canada or any other country is an imposter.

(ii) We will never ask for bank or credit card details, cryptocurrency payments, or charges fees to job seekers.

As an agency, we cannot and will never request payments for services to candidates.

(iii) If you are a candidate or Client, your data has not been compromised and there is no connection between this scam and data held by Pale Blue Dot® Recruitment. These imposters are contacting Random people in Ireland.

If you receive a suspicious message, please do not click on any links or attachments.

We have liaised with the relevant authorities who advise that anyone who receives suspicious messages to report them to WhatsApp and block them. If you are concerned by any communications you receive that appear to come from Pale Blue Dot® Recruitment please contact us directly at 091458356.

Here are some questions that will help you to identify a fraudulent message:
• Were you expecting to receive this message?
• Do you recognize the number or email address?
• Is the message poorly written and/or contain spelling errors?
• Does it offer unrealistic salaries or working arrangements?
• Does it ask for personal information, documents, or money?
• Does it contain a link? Never click on a link from an untrusted source.

If you have been a victim of fraudulent activity, please report it to the relevant authorities.

If you have received a message like this and have provided any money or shared your bank account details with anyone you should contact your bank immediately.
